Ella is a film and theatre maker based in NYC. She was born in Barbados and raised in Uganda, Kenya, England and New York City. 

After completing her MFA at Goldsmiths, University of London , Ella worked for a year at Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures, assisting the Director of Development reading and covering hundreds of scripts. Ella has written and directed short films, EARTH BENEATH MY FEET and SOFIE, which won BEST SHORT at San Francisco Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival. In 2018 Ella was chosen for Creative Minds/Sundance Institute, where she developed her short script CAR BATTERY. Ella has directed 60 min documentary, THE GLOBAL VILLAGE PROJECT, following the lives of refugee teenage girls resettled in Atlanta. The doc was awarded a WOMEN MAKE MOVIES Fellowship and was distributed via BBC Worldwide, Al Jazeera & Globostat Brazil. 

In 2019 Ella directed the NY showcase of   SIX CORNERS play, by Emmy Nominated Keith Huff (Mad Men, House of Cards, American Crime). Her New York directing credits include, THREE MONTHS WITH POOK by Jack Feldstein at SOHO Playhouse, original music by Melanie; DEAN OF STUDENTS by Alex Kveton at Chain Theatre NYC; NEIL SIMON’S LAST HIT by Jack Feldstein at Workshop Theatre and FALLING IN LOVE WITH MR DELLAMORT by Paul Doust at The Slipper Room. Ella is the director of the CHAIN PLAYWRITING LAB founded in 2019, which is supported by Chain Theatre and Department of Cultural Affairs NY.
